Congratulations to the 2008 FEF Trivia Bee Champions Franklin Munibees!

The Franklin Education Foundation (FEF) will once again sponsor BEE FRANKLIN, the FEF Trivia Bee. The event will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the Thomas Mercer Auditorium at the Horace Mann Middle School in Franklin. This is the foundation's major fundraiser, with the proceeds being used to fund grants for teachers within the Franklin public school system.

This brain teasing evening will feature approximately 45 three-person teams made up of local businesses, schools and organizations. Themed teams, many in costume, are sponsored by real estate agencies, law firms, banks, churches and other community establishments, and each school in the Franklin public school system will also have a team.

Questions will cover academic and trivia categories that include geography, history, literature, sports, pop culture, art, TV and more. The difficulty level will increase as each round progresses, eliminating all but one team. The winning team from each round will advance to the Championship Round to compete for the coveted "Bee Cup." Questions like "What was the name of Pinocchio's puppeteer in the famous fairy tale?" will test knowledge, memory and wit. Admission to the event is free. Between rounds, the FHS Jazz Band will entertain and refreshments will be available for a voluntary donation. Raffle tickets will be sold during the Bee for gift certificates and items donated by local businesses.

This community event is expected to raise approximately $15,000 which goes right back into the schools in the form of grants. Over the past six years, FEF has awarded 110 grants totaling $150,000 to teachers in the Franklin public school system. These represent innovative programs that could not otherwise be funded by the school budget. Unfortunately, FEF is forced to decline approximately half of the grant proposals submitted each year, simply because of the limitation of funds. The 2008 "BEE FRANKLIN" FEF Trivia Bee, will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 7:00 pm, at the Horace Mann auditorium in Franklin.
